I painted this 18x24 to celebrate Fall and Thanksgiving. I used and old crock pickle jar of my grandmothers to hold dried flowers. An oriental basket holds the fall harvest with golden leaves finishing the picture. The background shows brush strokes.
Spring Drama is a 20x24. Yellow and purple are opposites which makes a good combination. The yellow and lavender theme is carried throughout by the irises and the poppies along with forsythia, daffodils, and lemons. The black background gives a dramatic effect.
Besides collecting oriental objects, I also grow gesneriads. African Violets are the most well known gesneriad, but there are many others. Streptocarpus is one variety that I have learned to grow well. This is a lovely pink one named Bristol Sunet.
This painting is the partner of Spring Drama, but each can stand alone. It too is an original oil on canvas measuring 20x24. The Japanese Irises are held in an antique pottery vase that I purchased somewhere in my antiquing period. Again I used a dramatic black background.
The two roses in the pitcher grew at my front door step, and they were the last of the summer so I wanted to same them. I chose the pitcher because it had little pink roses similar to the real roses on it. The roses, pitcher, and jewelry box are my TREASURES an 16x20 canvas.
